Dr. Patricia Crispino has performed across the country in solo and chamber recitals, orchestra and wind ensemble concerts, and opera and musical theatre productions. In addition to her own private clarinet studio, Dr. Crispino has taught clarinet lessons in public school systems, universities, and has provided woodwind instruction for high school marching bands, summer camps, and youth orchestras and wind ensembles. Past and present students have received superior ratings at both regional and state solo/ensemble contests, were accepted into All-District and All-State Bands, accepted into collegiate music programs, and successfully completed degree recitals.
Dr. Crispino graduated with a Doctor of Music in Clarinet Performance from Florida State University . Prior to attending FSU, she completed an Artist Diploma in Clarinet Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Master of Music in both Clarinet Performance and Wind Conducting from Baylor University, and a Bachelor of Music in Woodwind Performance from Central Washington University. Past clarinet mentors include Jonathan Holden, Frank Kowalsky, Franklin Cohen, Richard Shanley, and Joseph Brooks; past conducting mentors include J. Eric Wilson and Colin McKenzie. During her time at Baylor, Dr. Crispino was a clarinet and conducting graduate teaching assistant, a recipient of the Larry Vanlandingham Outstanding Instrumental Graduate Student Award, and a concerto competition winner. In November of 2010, Patricia performed Carl Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra in Waco, TX. Dr. Crispino has performed with the Tallahassee Winds, Theatre Tallahassee, the Solon Center of the Arts Opera, Solon Philharmonic, Waco Symphony Orchestra, Austin Chamber Players, and Yakima Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Crispino has also performed for the Cleveland Composers Guild, Waco Symphony Sunday Sounds Series, and can be heard in the short film Blue Disquietude. Patricia presently freelances in the North Florida/South Georgie area, is Artistic Director/conductor/co-founder of the local clarinet choir Tallahassee Breezes, clarinetist with the Tallahassee dixie band Yellow Dogs, and teaches privately in the Tallahassee area. She is also a math teacher at Cobb Middle School in Tallahassee, FL.
