Sondheim’s “Company” – Opening Night @ QMT!

It’s opening night at Quincy Music Theatre (QMT) for Stephen Sondheim’s Company!  This cast is filled with fantastic local talent.  Today marks the first of six performances (June 7-16) and I encourage you to come check it out if you can.

Company is based on a series of 11 one act plays written by George Furth regarding marriage in New York.  It focuses on a character named Robert/Bobby (played by Michael “Doc” Dean who does a spectacular job) who wakes up on his 35th birthday and contemplates his life, relationships, and the thought of marriage.  The musical is based on his memories, which skips forwards and backwards in time.  It’s not your traditional story line or musical, but it definitely gets you thinking not only about the purpose of marriage or if it’s right for you, but also how time has changed, even in the last decade!

I’m glad to be a part of this great production.  First musical I’ve played in that uses Eb clarinet and it’s fun/cheesy stuff (right up my alley). I’m playing the Reed 1 book on alto saxophone, Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, and flute. Definitely working my flute chops in this one!

Long Time No Type!

It sure has been a while since I’ve updated!  A lot has happened since December 11, 2017!

February was a busy month with work, Addams Family, and a Tallahassee Winds concert.  I had the opportunity to play the Reed 2 (flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax, tenor sax) book for the FSU Theatre production of The Addams Family.  The book was a lot of fun to play, the music was great, the show was hilarious, and the cast was absolutely fantastic!  Probably one of the best pit shows I have done so far in my lifetime.

Guys & Dolls – Opening Night

Tonight is opening night for Guys & Dolls at FSU School of Theatre!  It’s great to play in the Fallon Theatre Pit again; glad to be back! The cast sounds fantastic so if you’re looking for something fun to do the next two weekends and you are able, I highly recommend you check it out!
